Several NYU swimmers set personal best times in their races today.

On the men's side, Nick Tran (Ann Arbor, MI/Early College Alliance at Eastern Michigan University) swam the first 100-yard butterfly of his collegiate career in 50.36. Aaron Hsieh (Los Altos, CA /Los Altos ) won the 100-yard breaststroke with his time of 59.26. Jack Mullen (Danville, CA /Monte Vista ) (1:55.22) had a career-best swim in the 200-yard backstroke and won the event.

For the NYU women, Nikita Kouznetsova (Hamilton, NJ/Mercer County Health Science) (career-best 2:04.95) won the 200-yard backstroke. Also having a memorable day was Camille Valvur (Moraga, CA/Campolindo). In her first career 100-yard freestyle, she won the event with a time of 54.76.

"We had some great swims today," remarked Head Coach Trevor Miele. "Nick started tonight's session with a very impressive 100 fly followed up by some fantastic 200 backstrokes from Nika and Jack."

The Violets also found great success in the diving events. On the women's one-meter board, Carmen White (Lake Bluff, IL/Lake Forest) (309.00), Katherine Nardone (Weston, MA/Weston) (265.60) and Ashlyn Winship (Richardson, TX/Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science) (259.20) went one-two-three. Meanwhile, on the men's three-meter board, Cole Vertin (San Jose, CA/St. Francis) was NYU's top diver, placing second with a score of 331.70.

"Tonight was a great warmup meet going into the UAA (University Athletic Association) Championships," added Diving Coach Todd Kolean. "I thought top to bottom, men and women, we had one of the best competitions of the year."

"Everyone is performing well and I'm excited for tomorrow," concluded Miele.

The Violets will return to the pool tomorrow at 10 am when they wrap up the NYU Invitational.
