COMPLETE RESULTS
The New York University women's golf team finished in second place at the Vassar College Invitiational, which took place on Saturday and Sunday, April 20 and 21, at Duchess Country Club in Poughkeepsie, NY.
NYU trailed Williams College by nine strokes after the first round and was able to cut into the Ephs' lead, but ultimately fell by six strokes, shooting a two-day score of 615 (310-305), while Williams took home first place scoring a 609 (301-308). The Violets finished 24 strokes ahead of third place Wellesley College at the 12-team event.
"We cut into Williams' lead and had the best score of the day," said Head Coach
Brad Johnson.
Six Violets finished among the top-17 at the event, including
Navika Kuchakulla, who tied for third after shooting an even-par 72 on Sunday. Kuchakulla finished six-over-par, three strokes behind SUNY Cortland's Danielle Bambola, who won the 66-player tournament.
"Navika is getting back in to form after spending the fall abroad," added Johnson. "I'm looking forward to watching her keep getting better as we head the Championship season.
Also finishing in the top-10 for the Violets were
Arshia Mahant and
Jenni Bluetling. Mahant finished in seventh after shooting an eight-over-par 152 (77-75) and Bluetling came in ninth with a 10-over-par 154 (76-78).
NYU is slated to return to the course next weekend when it heads to South Hadley, MA, for the Jack Leaman Invititational at The Orchards Golf Club.
