The #3-ranked NYU women's golf team opened competition at the Stith Invitational on Monday, March 30th, in Richmond, VA, at The Dominion Club, hosted by Randolph-Macon College.
After two rounds of competition, the Violets lead 16 teams heading into the final round on Tuesday. NYU placed four players in the top 10 individually.
The Violets carded a +9 in the opening round to start the day and followed it up with a -3 in the second round to secure their position atop the leader board at +6.
Naomi Tan led the way for NYU, carding rounds of 71 and 70 to finish at 141 (-3) through 36 holes. She sits in first place out of 84 participants heading into the final round.
Sonia Hao also turned in a strong performance for the Violets, posting rounds of 74 and 72 to sit at 146 (+2), while Inha Jun recorded rounds of 74 and 73 for a two-day total of 147 (+3).
Jiayi Fu rounded out the top four for NYU, finishing at 148 (+4) after rounds of 78 and 70, including an impressive bounce-back performance in the second round.
Kelly Jing also competed for the Violets, posting rounds of 77 and 77 for a total of 154 (+11).
The Violets will return to the course on Tuesday for the third and final round of competition.
