The #3-ranked NYU women's golf team closed out competition at the Stith Invitational on Tuesday, March 31, in Richmond, Virginia, at The Dominion Club, hosted by Randolph-Macon.
The Violets finished in first place out of 16 teams with a three-round score of +15, placing four players among the top 10, including the first-place finisher. NYU faced strong competition throughout the tournament against a deep field of regional and nationally-ranked programs.
Naomi Tan led the way for NYU, finishing tied for first overall. Tan was consistent throughout the tournament and remained atop the leader board following her standout opening day, finishing tied for first among 84 competitors.
Jiayi Fu delivered one of the best rounds of the day, carding a 70 (-2) in the final round to move up the leader board and finish third overall with a two-day total of +2. Sonia Hao also recorded a top-five finish, finishing at +4, while Inha Jun added a top-10 performance at +8. Kelly Jing rounded out the lineup for the Violets.
The Violets built their lead with a +9 opening round and a strong second round before closing out the tournament with a final-round +15 to secure the team title.
The Violets return to action on April 11th at the Leaman Invitational in Amherst, Massachusetts.
