Women's Golf Wins UAA Championship

Violets Come Out On Top in Tight Three-Way Battle

Final UAA Championship Results

The New York University women's golf team captured its fourth consecutive University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship by the slimmest of margins in a tight three-team battle. The Violets, with a score of 631, edged Washington University in St. Louis (632) and Carnegie Mellon University (633) at the two-day championship, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, March 9-10, at the 5,817-yard, par-72 Conservatory Course at the Hammock Beach Resort in Palm Coast, FL.

The Violets are currently ranked #7 in the nation by the Women's Collegiate Golf Association (WGCA), while the Wash U. Bears are #11 and the CMU Tartans are #15.

Patty Treevichaphan led NYU by shooting a par-72, the lowest round of any golfer on Sunday. She carded 79 on Saturday, and her two-day total of 151 was good for a second-place finish individually. Only Carnegie Mellon's Grace Chen, with a two-day score of 147 (73-74), finished ahead of Treevichaphan.

NYU's Arshia Mahant shot 155 (78-77) and tied for third place overall.

Arisa Kimura finished at 161 (78-83), Jessica Wu shot 164 (81-83) and Jenni Bluetling finished with 166 (82-84).

"Great accomplishment by our team," said Head Coach Brad Johnson. "We hung tough in an incredibly tight tournament and showed resilience in pulling this one out."

The Violets return to action next weekend when they compete at the Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate Invitational on Jekyll Island, GA, Friday-Sunday, March 15-17.
