Williams College Fall Invitational Team Results
The NYU women's golf team finished in first place out of 15 teams at the Williams College Fall Invitational, which was held Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30, in Williamstown, MA.
After trailing behind host Williams College by four strokes in the first round, the Violets finished the tournament strong with a day-two score of 303, giving the Violets a total for the weekend of 622. Williams finished in second (625), Amherst College took third (633), Wellesley College placed fourth (649), and Middlebury College rounded out the top five (651).
Jessica Wu played well on day two of the tournament, carding a three-over-par 74. She was the highest-placing Violet, finishing the weekend tied for fourth with a weekend score of 153.
Arisa Kimura ended the tournament in a tie for sixth, carding a two-over-par 73 and a total weekend score of 154.
Jenni Bluetling also played well, as she had the best day-two score for the Violets with an impressive one-over-par 72, giving her a total weekend score of 158 and a tie for 12th.
"Jennifer, Arisa and Jessica played amazing golf today," said Head Coach
Brad Johnson. "The pins were more accessible today, allowing for lower scores."
Patty Treevichaphan finished in a tie for 20th with a weekend score of 162, while
Arshia Mahant and
Isabel Herrera both finished in a tie for 28th with scores of 167.
"I'm very proud of our team as a whole. It was great to see our team put it together to give us the tournament win," said Johnson.
The Violets hope to keep up this momentum and produce similar results at the Washington and Lee Invitational next week, which takes place Saturday and Sunday, October 6-7, at the Lexington Golf Course and Country Club in Lexington, VA.
