The New York University women's golf team finished in third place at the Mt. Holyoke Invitational, which was held Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23, at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, MA.
After carding a 317 in the first round on Saturday, the Violets improved by six strokes on Sunday and ended with a total of 628 over the two days. Amherst College (619) won the 17-team tournament with Williams College (622) a close second.
"We had a slight improvement from yesterday's round, but just came up a little short," said NYU Assistant Coach Eric Tarakjian. "It was a strong finish for us."
Leading the way for NYU was
Patty Treevichaphan, who finished third overall out of 99 golfers with a two-day score of 149 (75-74).
"Patty played outstanding all weekend and didn't let a tough start effect her game," added Tarakjian.
Arshia Mahant also posted a top-10 finish for the Violets. She tied for ninth following a 79 on Sunday. She shot 78 on Saturday for a 157 total.
Jessica Wu was a top-20 finisher for the Violets, improving to a 77 on Sunday after carding 83 on Saturday. Her 160 total was good for a tie for 18th place.
Arisa Kimura tied for 23rd after posting a two-day total of 162 (81-81), while
Charlotte Kwong tied for 38th (167, 85-82).
The Violets return to action at the Williams College Fall Invitational in Williamstown, MA, on Saturday and Sunday, September 29-30.
