The New York University men's swimming & diving team posted a 177-115 victory over Rowan University on Saturday, October 20, at the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) in Manhattan. The Violets, who hadn't competed since October 6, are now 2-0 in dual meets this season, while Rowan is now 0-1.
Elan Oumarov was a double-winner for the Violets, taking both the 200-yard butterfly (1:53.58) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.35). Not to be outdone,
Nianzhong Liu also won two events for NYU, capturing both the 50-yard freestyle (20.98) and the 100-yard freestyle (46.09).
On the diving boards,
Cole Vertin won the three-meter event (340.81) and
Nick Lemieux placed second in the one-meter (293.70).
"I was very pleased with our performance today. We stepped up and won a lot of close races," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "The team has put in a lot of hard training in and out of the water and they are pretty tired right now. It was awesome to see them be very aggressive and still be able to close out close races."
The Violets return to action on Friday and Saturday, November 2-3, when they host Stevens Institute of Technology at the NYU Fall Invitational at the PAF.
