The New York University men's swimming & diving team defeated Springfield College on Saturday, January 14, at the Linkletter Natatorium in Springfield, MA.
The Violets improved to 3-3 in dual meets this season by defeating the Pride (1-9) by a score of 174-102.
Connor Brisson was victorious in both the one-meter (355.87) and the three-meter (404.70) dives. His score in the three-meter competition broke his own NYU record of 397.65, which marked the first time a Violet diver broke the 400-point barrier.
"This was probably our best meet from top to bottom this year," said Diving Coach
Todd Kolean. "They've worked hard all year and it's definitely showing."
Ian Rainey and
Alexander Katz were each double-winners on Saturday. Rainey won the 200-yard freestyle (1:46.30) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.58), while Katz triumphed in the 100-yard freestyle (47.97) and the 100-yard backstroke (53.09).
"At this time of the year, it's important to swim on back-to-back days," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele, referencing yesterday's tri-meet against Johns Hopkins and MIT. "I think the team did well today, especially after such an emotional meet yesterday."
The Violets return to action on Friday, January 20, when they take on the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY.
