Round 1 vs. Vassar
Rounds 2-6 vs. Princeton, Penn State, Harvard, and Sacred Heart

The New York University men's fencing team competed at the Sacred Heart Tradition Tournament on Sunday, December 7, in Fairfield, CT.

The Violets went 2-3 over five rounds of competition, starting off the invitational with an 18-9 win over Vassar College. In the next three rounds, NYU fell to Princeton University (25-2), Pennsylvania State University (16-11) and Harvard University (21-6). The Violets finished the day on a high note, beating host Sacred Heart University 15-12.

"The men fenced very well and we had some good solid wins," said NYU Head Coach Steven Mormando. "We went head to head with three of the top-five teams in the country in Princeton, Harvard and defending National Champion Penn State. I'm very pleased with my foil squad, epee was just as impressive and Quinton [Burgunder] did great in sabre, as well."

Quinten Burgunder led NYU with an 11-1 record on the day and Daniel Sconzo continued his succesful rookie season winning nine of his 13 matches.

The Violets are back in action on Sunday, January 25, when they host the NYU Invitational at the Cobra Fencing Club in Hoboken, NJ.
