ResultsNew York University's men's swimming & diving team defeated Vassar College 204-62 in a dual meet on Saturday, November 1, at the Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) in Manhattan.
Senior diver
Austen Blease won the one-meter (340.95) and three-meter competitions (313.36), beating the previous one-meter (six dive) record of 330.45, he set during the 2011-12 season. Blease also achieved NCAA-qualifying scores in both events for the second time this season.
Fellow senior diver
Brian Blum also achieved a NCAA-qualifying score in the one-meter competition (281.18).
"Another dominating performance for the divers," said Diving Coach
Scott Donie. "We have a lot of work left to do, but I'm really proud of this group."
HIGHLIGHTS:- Sophomore
Ethan Louie finished first in the 100-yard backstroke (53.17) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.77), beating the previous 200-yard backstroke Palladium record of 1:57.51.
- Violet freshmen swept various events throughout the dual meet.
Christian Alonte won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:29.38).
Austin Palmer swept the 200-yard butterfly (1:57.41) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.12).
Joe Baron won the 50-yard freestyle (22.01) and tied for first in the 100-yard freestyle (48.91) with sophomore
Harrison Clewell.
Tim Kou finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.48), breaking the previous Palladium Natatorium record of 58.95.- Senior
Jerry Crowley won the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.62), breaking the Palladium Natatorium record of 1:42.78, and he participated on the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:35.78) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:23.92) teams.
"I thought we swam really well today," said Head Coach
Trevor Miele. "I think that the team continues to make progress and that we posted some solid mid-season times."
For their next competition, the Violets will host the NYU Invitational on Friday and Saturday, November 7-8, at the PAF. Competition is set to begin at 5:00pm on Friday and 10:00am on Saturday.
