Highlights
- The Eagles used an 8-0 run to build a 10-point lead, 20-10, with 8:45 left in the first half. Emory eventually went up 27-13, but the Violets scored the final four points of the period, including a deep buzzer-beating jumper from
Maya Wasowicz.
- The Eagles controlled the opening of the second half to build their largest lead of the game, 36-17, at the 15:34 mark.
- NYU battled back, however, going on a 13-4 run, during which
Cassidy Jourdan hit a pair of threes, to make it 40-30.
- The Violets twice got as close as eight late, but both times Emory made big runs to pull away.
- Jourdan and
Nicole Lem had nine points apiece, with Lem adding six rebounds.
Riley Wurtz recorded nine boards, six assists and three steals.
“Credit Emory's defense – they caused turnovers and scored off those turnovers,” said Head Coach
Lauren Hall-Gregory. “We were much more composed and rebounded much better in the second half. We just have to keep working and playing.”
NYU returns to the court for another UAA contest on Friday, February 8. The squad will travel to Cleveland, OH, to take on Case Western Reserve University at 6:00 pm.
