Brooke Batchelor, of the New York University women's basketball team have earned national recognition from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
Barber was named the WBCA NCAA Division III Coach of the Year for a second year in a row, while Peper earned Division III Player of the Year honors. Batchelor was an All-American Honorable Mention.
The Violets won the University Athletic Association (UAA) for a fifth straight season under Barber and extended their win streak to 91 games entering the NCAA Final Four. NYU is now two wins away from defending its back-to-back national titles.
Having already been named the UAA Player of the Year and
D3hoops.com Region IV Women's Basketball Player of the Year, Peper added to her historical season, highlighted by her program record-setting 112 three-pointers made. The team's lone senior also moved into ninth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,432 points across her four seasons.
Batchelor's recognition comes after the junior guard averaged 13.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game this year. Defensively, she racked up 82 steals, good first in the UAA.
The Violets are set to take on the University of Scranton tonight at 7:30pm in the National Semifinal in Salem, VA. The National Championship game is set for Saturday at 4:00pm.
