The New York University men's fencing team competed in the Eric Sollee Invitational, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Sunday, February 3, in Cambridge, MA.
NYU defeated Haverford College 19-8 in their opening contest. The Violets also earned a 16-11 victory over Boston College in the event's final match to salvage a 2-4 overall record on the day.
NYU was defeated by their other four opponents. The Violets fell to MIT 14-13, Brandeis University 17-10, Duke University 18-9, and Brown University 15-12.
Highlights:

Phil Jamesson had a great performance and led the team in victories with a 17-1 record in foil.

Andrew Ark also had a strong day in foil, compiling a 12-6 record.

Andrew Kelly compiled a record of 11-7 in sabre.
-Jonathan Philippou led the way in epee, earning seven victories during the day.

The Violets return to action on Thursday, February 7, when they host a quad meet at the Jerome Coles Sports Center in Manhattan. The team will celebrate family day, and play host to Vassar College, Columbia University and Sacred Heart University.
