The New York University women's basketball team fell to Emory University 73-49 in a road University Athletic Association (UAA) contest on Sunday, January 27, in Atlanta, GA. The Eagles, who came into the game ranked #18 by
USA Today, improved their overall record to 16-2, including a 6-1 mark in the UAA. NYU dropped to 8-10 overall and to 1-6 in conference play.
After trailing 40-21 at halftime, NYU was able to cut the lead to 13 following consecutive three-pointers from
Cassidy Jourdan. The Eagles, however, would charge back, taking control of the second half and extending their lead to as large as 30 points.
Highlights:
- Jourdan led NYU with 16 points, connecting on four three-point field goals and chipping in with two rebounds.

Megan Dawe was perfect from both the field and the foul line, going 5-5 on field goal attempts and 4-4 on free throws. She finished with 14 points and six boards.

Melissa Peng led NYU with four assists and also notched three boards.

Alexis Doherty contributed six points on 3-5 shooting while pulling down five rebounds.
"Emory is a very good team that forces a lot of turnovers and is able to capitalize on them," said Head Coach
Lauren Hall-Gregory. "This loss was not about effort. Our players played hard, but I have to give a lot of credit to Emory.
"I was really proud of the run we made to start the second half," Hall-Gregory added. "Hopefully we can take what we learned this weekend and apply it when we face these teams again at home next weekend."
NYU returns to the floor for a home contest against the University of Rochester on Friday, February 1. The game is slated to be a Tear It Up! event, and tip-off is set for 6:00 pm.
