Men's Swimming & Diving Team Victorious Over Vassar

Violets Defeat Brewers 149-65

New York University's men's swimming & diving team added a win to its record on Saturday, January 26, after defeating Vassar College by a final score of 149-65. Competing in their last meet before the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, the Violets were able to tally enough points to end their seven-meet losing streak.

A number of team members had stand-out performances.

Jerry Crowley won two individual events, the 50-yard freestyle (21.78) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:56.28),. He was also a  member of the Violets' winning 200-yard medley relay team (1:39.84) alongside Charlie Wu, Alexander Maquet and Matt Kendall.

Highlights:

- Nick Lechner, Wu and Kendall had a one-two-three finish in the 200-yard freestyle with respective times of 1:51.07, 1:51.14 and 1:56.15.

- Wu also won the 200-yard backstroke after posting a time of 2:02.24.

- "I'm happy with the way the team is swimming," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "I believe we are set up well to hit our peak at UAA Championships."

- Diver Austen Blease put two more wins on his record after
posting one- and three-meter scores of 281.63 and 301.65, respectively. Both of his totals were NCAA qualifying scores.

Prior to the races, NYU took the time to honor graduating senior and team co-captain, Dan Isaacson, who was participating in his final collegiate home meet.

The Violets' next competition will be at the UAA Championships. The meet will be held at the University of Chicago Thursday-Saturday, February 14-16.
