Evans, Binczyk Shine at Swarthmore

Both Run Personal Bests at Last Chance Meet

Evans' performance put her 21st on the national performance list in the 5,000 meters.
Results

Several members of the New York University women's track & field team competed at the Swarthmore Last Chance Meet on Monday, May 14, in Swarthmore, PA.
 
Maeve Evans and Alyssa Binczyk turned in the Violets' top performances at the meet, both notching personal bests.
 
Evans placed second in the 5,000 meters with a personal-best time of 17:14.05. Her strong performance moved her up to 21st on the Division III national performance list.
 
“Maeve put herself in position to qualify for nationals,” said NYU head coach Nick McDonough.
 
Binczyk took 12th in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:16.02 – just 0.56 seconds off the school record set by Evans two years ago.
 
Vanessa Ortiz also had a solid performance at Swarthmore, placing fifth in the shot put with a distance of 11.15 meters.
 
There was no team scoring at the meet.
 
“Overall, we had mixed results at the meet,” noted McDonough.
 
Several Violets will return to action on Thursday, May 17, for the TCNJ Last Chance Meet in Ewing, NJ.
