Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Eighth at Mount Holyoke Invitational

Kenny's 81 leads the Violets

The New York University women's golf team finished tied for eighth place at the Mount Holyoke Invitational, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, Septtember 24-25, at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, MA .

The Violets combined for a two-round total of 687 (348-339) and found themselves 53 shots behind the tournament champions Williams College.

Kristina Shalhoup was the Violets' low scorer with a combined score of 164 (82-82). Shalhoup finished tied for 17th in the individual competition.

Middlebury's Flora Weeks was the individual champion with a two-round total of 148 (73-75).

The Violets' second leading golfer was senior Meghan Kenny with a score of 167 (86-81). Her 81 was the Violets' low score on the day.

The Violets' other scorers were Natasha How (176, 89-87) and Haley Packard (180, 91-89).

Overall, NYU assistant coach January Romero was encouraged with the progress of the team.

"Everyone improved from the first round, and this is the first time we've scored under 340 as a team," Romero said. "We have a few improvements to make, but we also have a lot to build on in the next few weeks.”

The Violets' will next be in action at the Middlebury Invitational on October 1st and 2nd.
