The No. 3-ranked New York University women's golf team continued its spring season at the Liberty League Championship on Saturday, May 1, at Teugega Country Club in Rome, NY.
The Violets opened the two-day tournament with a cumulative score of +3 and sit in first place out of seven teams. Wellesley College sits in second place after shooting +15 in the opening round. The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship.
All five golfers for NYU finished inside the top 10 individually out of 32 competitors.
Naomi Tan and Jiayi Fu led the Violets with even-par rounds and are tied for first place after the opening round.
Inha Jun followed with a +1 and is in third place, while Sonia Hao carded a +2 and is tied for fourth. Tiya Chowdary shot a +4 and is tied for sixth place after day one.
The Violets will return to the course tomorrow for the second and final round of the Liberty League Championship, with tee times set to begin at 12:00 p.m.
