NYU Invitational Results
The New York University women's golf team tied for sixth place as hosts of the annual NYU Invitational, which was played Saturday and Sunday, September 17-18, at the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern, NY.
The Violets tied with Vassar College, both teams shooting 687, just one stroke behind fifth-place SUNY Cortland.
Williams College won the 36-hole tournament with a score of 631.
Kristina Shalhoup was the Violets' top finisher, taking sixth place overall at 158 (74-84).
Middlebury College's Flora Weeks won the individual title with a score of 151.
Meaghan Kenny shot a personal-best round of 80 for NYU, finishing with a two-day total of 167.
The Violets' other scorers were
Kyna Chang (180, 90-90) and
Shannon Leonard (182, 94-88).
Overall, NYU dropped seven strokes from the previous weekend's total at the season-opening St. Lawrence Invitational.
“We were pretty consistent over the two days,” said NYU assistant coach
Matt Huck. “But, I also think that our best golf is still ahead of us.”
The Violets seek to continue their good play at the Mount Holyoke College Invitational in South Hadley, MA, next weekend.
