The New York University women's golf team finished in second place out of five teams at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II/III Championship, which was held on Saturday and Sunday, October 8-9, at Midvale Country Club in Penfield, NY.

The Violets combined for a two-round total of 709 (351-358) and finished as runners-up to the ECAC champions, Ithaca College (677, 345-332). Ithaca was powered by Sharon Li, who won the individual championship with a two-round score of 149 (75-74).

“I am extremely proud of the performance our girls gave us this weekend. We took advantage of some beautiful conditions to finish as runners-up”, said NYU assistant coach Matt Huck.

Kristina Shalhoup, who finished third overall individually, was the Violets' low scorer with a two-round total of 171 (81-90).

NYU's second-leading golfer for the championship was Meaghan Kenny, who shot a 177 (90-87) and finished in sixth place individually.

The Violets' other scorers were Shannon Leonard (184, 91-93), Kyna Chang (185, 89-96) and Natasha How (186, 98-88), who finished in eighth, ninth, and 10th place, respectively.

“Our younger girls got some great championship experience that I think will pay off down the road," Huck suggested. "Overall, this was a successful championship for us.”

The tournament concluded NYU's fall season. The Violets' spring season starts March 16-18 at the Jekyll Island Invitational in Jekyll Island, GA.
