TCNJ Dual Meet Results

The New York University women's swimming & diving team finished behind The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) at the TCNJ dual meet held on Saturday, January 22, in Ewing, NJ. The Violets finished with 107 points, while TCNJ scored 189 points.

“[TCNJ] was probably our toughest competition this year – they were just a better team than we were today,” said head coach Lauren Beam. “But we had some good swims that will help us prepare for the UAA [University Athletic Association] Championships.”

The Violets were led by Molly Rippe, who took first place in the 1,000 freestyle (10:41.90). She also placed third in the 500 freestyle (5:17.41)

Alexandra Strzempko and Gabby Borutecene also turned in strong performances for NYU. Strzempko took second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:49.65), while Borutecene finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.61) and third in the 100 freestyle (1:57.61)

Kelly Dietz led the diving team, taking second in both the one- and three-meter dives. She scored 265.20 points in the one-meter dive and 288.45 in the three meter-dive. Both scores are NCAA Division III National Championship qualifying scores.

Amanda Moffa finished third in the one-meter dive with 254.33 points, only a few points off a national qualifying score. She also took third in the three-meter dive with 233.25 points.

“It was really a spectacular day for NYU diving,” said diving coach Scott Donie. “Kelly Dietz has really strengthened her position to go to nationals.”

The Violets return to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 29, when they host Vassar College at the Palladium Athletic Facility in Manhattan. Competition begins at 1:00 pm.
