The New York University men's soccer team was in action on Saturday in a non-traditional season exhibition tournament held in Oakdale, NY.
The Violets took on perennial Division II powers Dowling College and Bloomfield College, and came away with solid results.
In the first tilt, NYU played even with host Dowling for most of the match, but surrendered a late goal and fell 1-0.
"The team did well," Behan said. "Dowling is a top Division II program and we competed with them the entire time. Though they beat us 1-0, the players know they can do better."
However, the Violets rebounded in the second game, defeating Bloomfield College, 3-2, on the strength of goals from freshmen Kyle Green, Cameron Javadi and Paul Dmitriev.
"In our game against Bloomfield, we were fitter and came back from a 2-1 deficit to win," Behan explained.
Behan also singled out the play of freshman Kyle Green, sophomore Matt Newman and junior Nick Coulson as keys to the team's fine performance on Saturday.
