The New York University men's soccer team hosted
#18-ranked Brandeis University in the final match of the 2025 season on Saturday, November 8, at Lubetkin Field in Newark, NJ.
The University Athletic Association (UAA) contest ended in a 1-1 tie.
The Violets celebrated Senior Day, as four players (
Felix Dyckerhoff,
Felipe Remon,
Terra Nagai, and
Ethan Zarka) and their families were honored in a pre-game ceremony:
The match did not start out well for the home squad, with Brandeis' Aiden Chuang opening the scoring at 14:40 off a feed from Nico Beninda.
However, Zarka connected on a free kick right before halftime (44:06) to even the score.
"We started out slowly, but I think we found our footing in the second half," said Head Coach
Kim Wyant. "We played strong defensively and had our chances to win the game."
The second half went scoreless, but the Violets got off six shots, four of which were on goal.
Gabino Talisayon made six saves in net for the Violets.
In addition to tying Brandeis, the Violets also defeated then-#2 Washington University in St. Louis and Carnegie Mellon University in going 2-1-1 over their final four matches.
"Overall, for the seniors, we sent them out with an upswing at the end of the year."
