The New York University women's soccer team will complete its spring training Saturday, April 17, when it travels to Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ.
NYU will face both Division II Philadelphia University and host Rowan, a Division III power, during its NCAA-allotted play date.
In addition to practices spaced across this month, the play date allows third-year head coach Werner T. Dasbach to evaluate his Violets against quality competition.
“This is a great opportunity for our players to make a mark, both individually and collectively as a team, against some very good competition,” said Dasbach. “It's important for both our young players and our returning starters.”
Last fall, NYU went 10-9-1 and advanced to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Metropolitan Tournament championship game for the second consecutive season. Among the Violets' returnees are National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Third Team All-East Region honoree Filiz Kipcakli and Second Team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) selection Emily Jenkinson.
