Men's Swimming & Diving Team Back in Action This Weekend

Violets Host Springfield College on Saturday

Naylor will be a factor for the Violets' effort on Saturday.

On Saturday, Jan. 16, the New York University men's swimming & diving team hosts Springfield College at the Palladium Athletic Facility. The Violets (6-2) look to surge into the second half of the season following a winter training trip in Florida.

"Springfield is one of the key meets for us this season," said head coach Bob Sorensen back in September 2009. "Those last three meets of the dual-meet season are all vital."

NYU has only those three dual meets left on the schedule before competing at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships (2/17-20). The contest vs. the Springfield Pride, however, might be the biggest meet of the three. The Violets tied the Pride least season en route to a 7-1-1 dual-meet record.

It will not be easy to top Springfield, which is currently undefeated at 7-0. For the Violets to pull off the victory, Sorensen will look to his "Big Three" of junior captain Andy King, sophomore Bryson Naylor and sophomore James Bedell.

Earlier this season Sorensen said, "Those three are the core of our team and they seem to step up for us every meet."

On the diving board, junior Max Norris, a 13-time career UAA Athlete of the Week recipient, should contend for top finishes in both diving events.

The meet will start at 1:00pm on Saturday. Results will be available on gonyuathletics.com.
