Box Score

Two quick early tallies by Rensselaar Polytechnic Institute proved to much for New York University to overcome in a 3-0 setback Friday evening at the 17th Manhattanville College Valiant Classic in Purchase, NY.

Sean Fleury scored twice inside of the first 13 minutes for RPI (3-0), first after banging home a free kick by Brad Shelofsky at 6:31 and then again at 12:38 when he took a feed from Alex Penny and scored from 10 yards out.

RPI added an insurance tally at 82:09 when Lincoln Field converted a corner kick from Michael Long.

Marek Urbanski made four saves in the setback for the Violets (1-3), which was outshot 13-4.  RPI, which got one save from Alex Penny, owned a 9-1 edge on corner kicks.

NYU returns to action Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Valiant Classic against Manhattanville at 7 p.m.
