The New York University men's swimming & diving team slipped past Rowan University 174-126 on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Palladium Athletic Facility. The team currently holds a 4-1 dual-meet record.

All season long, the Violets have turned to the consistent trio of Andy King, Bryson Naylor, and James Bedell. Saturday was no different as the three swimmers combined to produce nine individual Violet victories.

King, a junior captain, raced to fist-place finishes in the 200 individual medley (2:04.14), the 500 freestyle (4:55.76) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:19.98). He also swam the decisive anchor leg for the first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:20.25).

Naylor, a sophomore, had winning times in the 100 butterfly (54:02), the 100 breaststroke (1:00.59) and the 200 breaststroke (2:13.25). Bedell, also a sophomore, claimed victories in the 50 freestyle (22:37), the 100 freestyle (49:04) and the 200 freestyle (1:50.65). The two swimmers were also members of the first-place 400 freestyle relay.

"Another solid performance from the core of our team," said NYU head coach Bob Sorensen, in reference to King, Naylor and Bedell. "They've been stepping up for us all year long, and I can't ask for much more than three wins from each of them."

Max Norris grabbed first place in both diving events. He posted scores of 252.30 and 286.58 in the one-meter and three-meter diving events, respectively. Norris also earned an NCAA provisional qualifying mark with his total in the three-meter dive.

"As a whole, we really have improved over our three meets," said NYU diving coach Scott Donie. "I can even see these improvements on a day-to-day basis."

The Violets return to the pool on Friday, Nov. 7, when they compete at the two-day Princeton University Invitational.
