It was a bittersweet day for the New York University men's swimming & diving team as it earned a victory against Vassar College, 160-117, but bid farewell to eight seniors on Saturday.

“It's sad to lose this class as they've worked extremely hard these past four years,” said NYU head coach Bob Sorensen. “They will be remembered for a very long time.”

Against Vassar, the senior captains led the way.

Paul Hogan swept both distance events winning the 500 freestyle (4:50.83) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:14.98). He also was a part of the victorious 400 freestyle relay team (3:24.33).

Eric Wang earned two victories in the meet. He finished first in the 200 butterfly (1:58.62) and as a member of the 200 medley relay team (1:40.96).

Andrew Lardiere won the 100 freestyle in a time of 47.40.

Freshman Bryson Naylor provided a glimpse into NYU's future by winning the 200 breaststroke (2:15.22).

“It was a good preparation for our conference championship as we were able to see swimmers in their third events which will hopefully earn us points,” Sorensen said.

Senior diving captain Cooper Morton finished second in both the three-meter event, totaling 226.21 points, and the one-meter dive with 235.80 points.

This victory concludes the Violets (7-1-1) regular season.  They will have a two-week break before the University Athletic Association Championships begin on Thursday, Feb. 12 in Chicago.
