Senior Eric Wang Leads NYU Swim Team to Victory

Violets Now 3-0 after Victory Over Rowan University

The New York University men's swimming and diving team edged Rowan University by a score of 131-107 Saturday in Glassboro, NJ.

The men were led by senior tri-captain Eric Wang who blew away the competition in the 200 butterfly. He notched a first-place time of 1:54.81, approximately seven seconds ahead of the next finisher. He also was a member of the winning 400-medley relay team (3:39.26). Wang swam only exhibition in the 200 breaststroke, but did post the fastest time (2:12.94).

Senior tri-captain Andrew Lardiere won two events during the meet. He captured first place in the 50 freestyle (21.45) and the 100 freestyle (46.90). Lardiere was also a member of the fastest 400-freestyle relay team (3:19.60), which also competed as an exhibition event.

Sophomore Max Norris led the Violet divers placing third in the one-meter dive with 206.33 points and finishing in the same spot for the three-meter event with 212.03 points.

“I am very happy with our results,” said NYU head coach Bob Sorensen. “Virtually, everyone swam season-best times.”

Next up for the Violets (3-0) will be a tri-meet featuring Wheaton College and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy on Saturday, Nov. 15, at in Norton, MA.
