The New York University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Sam Howell Invitational and Distance Classic, hosted by Princeton University in Princeton, NJ, on Saturday, April 4.
NYU was led in the women's 5,000-meter run by
Katharine Frank, who secured the final spot in the top 10 with a time of 17:44.31.
Emily Castles followed closely behind in 11th place, finishing in 17:45.34, just over a second shy of a top-10 result.
Lindsay Guthrie also delivered a solid performance for the Violets, placing 13th overall with a time of 17:49.64, as NYU placed three runners within the top 15 of the event.
On the men's side,
Huckleberry Oakes represented the Violets in the 1,500-meter run.
Competing in heat three, Oakes posted a time of 3:56.71 to finish 24th overall in a competitive field.
Overall, the meet provided an opportunity for NYU's distance runners to continue building momentum and gain valuable experience against strong regional competition in the season.
Both teams return to action on April 10 at the Silfen Invitational, hosted by Connecticut College in New London, CT.
