The New York University men's and women's track and field teams closed out the opening weekend of the outdoor season at the 30th Annual Monmouth Season Opener in West Long Branch, NJ.
The Violets totaled 12 top-15 finishes across all events as the team kicked off the final stretch of the season.
Olivia Jackson was the lone winner on the day for NYU, leading the field in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase final, clocking at 11:09.14.
NYU scored two top-five finishes in the men's 100-meter final, as
James Thompson (11.02) took third and
Tyler Burch (11.11) finished fifth place.
In the field events,
Amalia Hronides led the way for the Violet women with a fourth-place finish in the high jump on a 1.50m best.
Emma Grunin scored an eighth-place finish with a 36.06m throw in the javelin competition.
On the men's side,
Nishad Sankar (6.05m) and
Drew Boyce (5.95m) scored in the top ten in the men's long jump competition, placing seventh and ninth, respectively.
The Violet men scored three more top-ten finishes on the track. Thompson (22.41) came home in sixth place in the 200m final,
James Jenkins (15:08.74) took seventh in the 5000m final and
Emmanuel Brito (50.50) finished ninth in the 400m final.
Both teams return to action on Apr. 4, with competitors at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational and Distance Classic and the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium on Randall's Island.
