Four New York University student-athletes have been earned weekly honors following their outstanding performances.
Emerson Evans and
Charlie Clifford of the men's volleyball team were named the United Volleyball Conference's (UVC) Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, while
Nolan Jennings of men's swimming & diving and
Maya Williams of women's swimming & diving were both named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week.
Evans and Clifford starred for the
#7-ranked Violets in each of the team's three wins this past week. The former totaled 52 kills on .311 hitting, while the latter registered 32 kills on .376 hitting. The duo's efforts led NYU to a win over Rutgers University-Newark on Tuesday night and a tri-match sweep of Misericordia University and Kean University on Saturday.
Against Kean, the Violets fell behind by two sets before coming back to defeat the Cougars, 3-2. Evans posted his best performance of the week with 20 kills on .347 hitting and Clifford bolstered the attack with 14 kills on .226 hitting.
The
#3-ranked men's swimming and diving team competed in a dive-only competition at the RPI Invitational on Saturday, where Jennings posted first-place finishes in both the one-meter, 11-dive event (468.95) and three-meter, 11-dive (486.40).
Also ranked
#3 nationally, the women's swimming and diving team was led by Williams at the RPI Invitational, who topped the three-meter, 11-dive competition (515.85), as well as the one-meter, 11-dive (488.20).
