Members of the New York University men's and women's track & field teams traveled to Princeton, NJ, to compete in the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University on Friday and Saturday, May 2-3.
The highlight of the weekend was Ryan Tobin's performance in the 5000m. The lone NCAA Division III runner in a field of 26, Tobin shattered his own NYU record by finishing third in a time of 14:01.51. He had established the old mark of 14:08.71 last season.
"I continue to be impressed with the things that Ryan has accomplished in his NYU career," said Head Coach Tyler Deck Shipley. "And, I'm excited for what is still to come over the final month."

On the women's side, Emma Grunin notched a ninth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 34.85m.
In the 1,500-meter run, both Stella Kuttner and Janie Cooper posted new personal bests. Kuttner took 27th overall with a time of 4:30.42 while Cooper notched 32nd with a time of 4:33.62.
In the men's 800m, Jon Diaz crossed the line in 1:51.57 to take 24th overall.
On Friday, four Violets competed in the 1,500-meter run. Huckleberry Oakes and Alex Hrycysyzn took sixth and seventh place, respectively. Oakes crossed the line in 3:55.93 while Hrycyszyn finished in 3:57.89.
On Saturday, Jake Chang took 18th in the same event with a time of 4:00.37 and Luke Munoz finished 26th with a time of 4:04.87.
In the discus, NYU record-holder Michelle Uvieghara notched 15th place with a mark of 37.28m.
Aleksander Jopek finished the 800-meter dash in 1:57.64 to take 13th place.
The Violets will be back in action next Friday, May 9, when they travel to Williamstown, MA, to compete in the Farley Inter Regional hosted by Williams College.
