Men's and Women's Track & Field Land Nine Qualifiers at NCAA Championships

Women Claim Five Bids, Men Claim Four

The New York University men's and women's track & field teams have produced nine qualifiers for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, hosted from Thursday to Saturday, May 22-24, at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, OH.

On the men's side, Ryan Tobin (5,000 meter run), Evan Sherman (10,000 meter run), Jeffrey Chen (10,000 meter run), and Jon Diaz (800 meter run) have all qualified.

For the women, Stella Kuttner (1,500 meter run), Janie Cooper (5,000 meter run), Katherine Cochran (5,000 meter run), Grace Rowley (10,000 meter run), and Lucy Gott (10,000 meter run) all made the cut.

Having previously set the 5,000 meter run program record, Tobin broke his own mark with his seed time of 14:01.51.

Additionally, Sherman's seed time of 29:39.72 set the program record for the 10,000 meter run, less than a second faster than Chen's time of 29:40.21.

Diaz enters the competition having earned a bronze medal in the 800 meter run at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships.

Kuttner placed third in the 1,500 meter run at the UAA Championships and has registered a seed time of 4:27.00 heading into the NCAA's.

Both Cooper and Cochran placed on the podium in the 5,000 meter run at the UAA Championships, with Cooper earning the gold medal.

Rowley and Gott set personal bests to qualify for the 10,000 meter run, with times of 35:37.25 and 35:39.75, respectively.

Both the men's and women's 10,000 meter runs are scheduled for Thursday beginning at 8:30pm. The men's 800 meter run is scheduled for Friday at 4:00pm. Saturday's slate consists of the women's 1,500 meter run at 1:35pm followed by the men's and women's 5,000 meter runs beginning at 4:00pm.
