The New York University men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Scarlet Knight Open on Friday, February 6, at The Armory in New York, NY, hosted by Rutgers University.
The Violets had 32 athletes participate between both teams and posted several top-10 finishes.
The day was highlighted by
Theodore Udelson-Nee's first-place finish in the 3000-meter race, clocking a time of 8:22.52.
In the men's 60-meter dash,
Emmanuel Brito placed 10th with a time of 7.32.
Gianna Dawson starred in the women's 800-meter dash with a time of 2:13.39, good for a new indoor program record and third place in the event.
The men's one-mile run saw three NYU athletes land in the top-10 with
Huckleberry Oakes placing sixth with a time of 4:10.91.
Luke Munoz and
Greg Borden followed shortly with times of 4:12.18 and 4:12.61, respectively. Munoz finished in ninth, while Borden finished in 10th.
Stella Kuttner recorded another third-place finish for the Violets in the women's one-mile run with a time of 4:57.19. Additionally,
Rina Kurihara took ninth place with a time of 5:04.26.
In the field portion of the day,
Amalia Hronides finished in ninth place in the women's high jump with a 1.50m jump.
Daniel Lee registered a 12.23m throw in the shot put and a 12.42m throw in the weight throw, good for fifth and seventh place, respectively.
Ujjayan Behera also tallied a top-10 throw in the weight throw with a distance of 11.98m.
A pair of Violets finished in the top-10 in the women's triple jump with
Alexa McMillian leading the way in fourth place with a jump of 11.69m.
Areyanna McCarthy finished in eighth place with a jump of 10.86m.
Both teams will return to action on Saturday, February 7, when they take part in the Big Apple Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Park Track & Field Athletic Complex in Staten Island, NY.
