The New York University men's and women's track & field teams kicked off the 2025 outdoor season at the Monmouth University Season Opener on Saturday, March 29, in West Long Branch, NJ.
Emma Grunin placed seventh in the javelin throw with a mark of 37.03m, a performance that currently ranks 14th in the NCAA for the event.
Five Violets set new personal bests in the 1,500-meter run: Sam Frank (4:11.50), Brandon Meiner (4:13.40), Micah Taffet (4:15.31), William Cornick (4:16.75), and Rina Kurihara (4:51.64).
Oliver Fideler and Dasha Jackson each earned 11th-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump, respectively. Fideler recorded a mark of 6.49m, while Jackson went 10.87m.
The men's 4x100-meter relay team made up of Flynt Whitworth, Travis Perry, Lincoln Tutor, and James Thompson finished fourth with a time of 42.29.
Combined, the men's and women's squads totaled five points to place 12th out of 16 scoring teams.
The Violets will return to action next Saturday, April 5, at the Metropolitan Championships, held at Icahn Stadium on Roosevelt Island in Manhattan.
