Track & Field Concludes Competition at UAA Championships

Hrycysyzn and Tobin Win Big

The New York University men's and women's track & field teams concluded competition at the 2025 University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships hosted by the University of Chicago on Sunday, March 2.

Ryan Tobin placed first in the men's 3,000-meter run and set a UAA meet record with his time of 8:15.85. Evan Sherman finished in seventh place clocking an 8:31.98 finish.

Josephine Dziedzic's time of 9:56.98 earned her a new personal best in the event.

Alex Hrycysyzn took the gold in the men's one mile run, crossing the line in 4:16.77. Liam Hagerty was right behind in second place with a time of 4:17.19 and Jeffrey Chen notched a new personal best in the event with a time of 4:22.97 to take 13th overall.

In the women's section, Janie Cooper finished in third place. Her time of 4:57.42 put her in the top-20 NCAA competitors in that event this season.

Travis Perry matched the personal best he set yesterday in the 60-meter dash preliminary round with a seventh-place, 7.02 finish in today's final. Seneca Guneratne posted an 8.08 finish in the women's section to take eighth place.

Dasha Jackson, James Thompson, and Gianna Dawson each notched a fifth-place finish in their respective events. Jackson clocked 9.52 in the 60-meter hurdles final, Thompson finished in 51.34 in the 400-meter dash final, and Dawson crossed the line in 2:17.40 in the 800-meter run.

In the field, three Violets achieved new personal bests.

In the men's triple jump, Nishad Sankar marked 14.02m to earn seventh place and Isaac Tu marked 13.39m to take ninth.

Kai Aravena threw 10.89m in the shot put.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Perry, Thompson, Flynt Whitworth, and Lincoln Tutor earned fifth place with a time of 3:28.00.

The men's squad tallied 47 points on the weekend to earn sixth place and the women's team finished in seventh with 27 points.

The Violets are back in action when they travel to Ithaca, NY, to compete in the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTC) Championships on Friday, March 7.
