Members of the New York University men's and women's track & field teams competed in the Big Apple Invitational held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, NY, on Friday, February 8.
Oliver Fideler finished in first place and notched a new personal best in the long jump with his mark of 6.79m. Fideler also achieved a new top time in the 60-meter dash, crossing the line in 7.68.
In the women's section of the 60-meter dash,
Seneca Guneratne posted a new personal best with her time of 8.04.
In the 200-meter dash,
Travis Perry finished in seventh place with a time of 22.77, earning a new personal best.
Three Violets finished within the top-10 competitors in the triple jump with
Drew Boyce (12.43m) and
Dasha Jackson (11.25m) finishing in eighth place and
Areyanna McCarthy (11.15m) in 10th. Jackson and McCarthy's marks earned them new personal bests in the event.
Cindy Leonard clocked a time of 1:03.39 to set a personal best in the 400-meter dash.
Members of both squads will be back in action next Friday, February 14, when they travel to Boston, MA, to compete in the David Hemery Invitational hosted by Boston University.
