Members of the New York University men's and women's track & field teams competed in the FastTrack National Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, NY, on Friday, February 7.
For the second week in a row Sophomore
Julian Aske toppled an NYU program record. Aske's time of 4:05.54 in the mile today earned him ninth place in the event and surpassed the previous program record of 4:06.00 set by Byron Dyce in 1968.
In the women's 800-meter run,
Katharine Frank secured a new personal best with a time of 2:23.53.
Lincoln Tutor notched a personal best in the 400-meter dash with his time of 53.68 while
Gianna Dawson, in her first 400 as a Violet, finished 22nd out of 83 competitors with a time of 59.81.
Samir Hussain also posted a new top time. Hussain crossed the line in the 3,000-meter run in 9:14.85.
Flynt Whitworth clocked 22.89 in the 200-meter dash to secure a new personal best.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Tutor, Whitworth,
Travis Perry, and
James Thompson posted an eighth-place finish with a time of 3:26.84.
Members of both teams will return to action at Ocean Breeze tomorrow when they compete in the Big Apple Invitational. Competition is set to begin at 3:00 PM EST.
