Kaldon Promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Special Events

Matthew Kaldon has been promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Special Events after serving as New York University's Special Events, Camps & Clinics Coordinator since July 2023.

"We couldn't be more pleased to welcome Matthew into this enhanced and more defined role," said Janice Quinn, NYU's Senior Associate Athletic Director. "His contributions in such a short time at NYU are measurable and much appreciated."

In his new role, Kaldon will take on additional responsibilities within varsity sports while continuing to oversee special events, all department camps and clinics, and the development of internal and external space rental revenue. He will continue to plan, develop, and manage all aspects of the department's special events, conferences, camps, clinics, etc., while also ensuring that all logistics are handled, including security arrangements, facility reservations, menu planning, transportation, etc.

"My first year at NYU has been amazing. I am grateful for the support I have received from all my colleagues and how I was welcomed into the NYU family," Kaldon said. "I am also grateful for my promotion and I can't thank everyone enough for this opportunity."

A 2013 graduate of SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations, Kaldon went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Sports Business Management from Manhattanville College in 2016.

Kaldon joined NYU after serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics and Recruiting Coordinator at Yeshiva University starting in 2021. While there, he undertook a myriad of responsibilities, including game and event administration, managing facilities, budgeting, supervising student workers, and working with coaches in the process of recruiting student-athletes.

Kaldon's other professional experience includes working as the Athletic Liaison & Transfer Admission Counselor at Mount Saint Mary College from 2019-21, where he also served as assistant baseball coach and recruiting coordinator.

As an undergrad, Kaldon was a catcher and captain of the Hawks' baseball team and was a SUNYAC All-Conference selection. He went on to play professionally for the Glacier Grizzlies of the Mount Rainier Professional Baseball League in 2015.
