The New York University men's and women's track & field teams kicked off the 2024-25 season on Friday, December 6, competing at the FastTrack Season Opener held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, NY.
Sophomore Julian Aske led the field in the men's mile, crossing the line in 4:16.11 to take first place.
Aske was followed by teammates Jon Diaz in second with a time of 4:18.90 and William Cornick who tied for third with his personal-best time of 4:20.60.
Dasha Jackson notched a fifth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles preliminary round with a time of 9.35 to secure a spot in the final heat. In the final, Jackson also notched fifth with a time of 9.40.
Travis Perry posted two personal records at today's competition; the first came in the 60-meter dash (7.11) and the second in the 200-meter dash (22.90).
Freshman Stella Kuttner reached the podium with an eighth-place finish in the mile. Kuttner clocked a 5:12.90 finish.
Oliver Fideler, in his first competition in nearly two years, tied his personal best in the long jump with a mark of 6.22m. Also in the pit was Drew Boyce who surpassed his previous best in the triple jump with a mark of 12.76m.
In the shot put, Daniel Lee placed ninth and recorded a new personal best with a 12.95m mark.
There was no team scoring at this event.
Members of both the New York University's men's and women's squads will be back in action tomorrow when they compete at the TCNJ Opener Invitational held at The Armory in Manhattan, NY. Competition is set to begin at 5:00 PM EST.
