The New York University wrestling team won its second title of the young season, finishing first at the Racich Rumble, hosted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, on Saturday, November 9.
The Violets totaled 158.5 points to easily out-distance second-place Washington & Lee University (128.5) in the 15-team competition.
"We had some great individual results that got us another team championship," explained Associate Head Coach
Corey Luce.
NYU opened its season with a first-place finish at the Ned McGinley Invitational last Saturday.
Once again, the Violets dominated the proceedings, winning four individual brackets and claiming eight place-winners.
The winners for NYU included
Cooper Pontelandolfo (157),
Trent Furman (184),
Tyler Kadish (141), and
Harrison Gordon (125).
Jacob Venezia placed second at 133,
Nicky Bell was third at 174,
Nick Kruczynski was fourth at 141, and
Anthony DeRosa took sixth at 197.
"These guys continue to impress by not just winning, but by dominating the field," Luce added.
Included among the winning was the 100th of Furman's career. He joins Pontelandolfo, who reached the mark last week, at that exalted plateau. Furman's 100th was achieved against returning NCAA Qualifier Ganon Smith of Elizabethtown College in the final.
