Richardson Competes at NCAA Indoor Championships

Women's Track & Field Runner Competes in 5,000-Meter Championship

Grace Richardson of the women's track & field team travelled to Birmingham, AL, on Friday, March 10, to compete in the NCAA Women's Indoor 5k Championship.

Coming across the line in 17:32.38, Richardson posted a 19th-place finish as the lone NCAA qualifier for the Violets.

Richardson qualified for the competition at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Friday, February 10, when she recorded a 17:07.06 finish in the 5k, which earned her the 15th seed going into today's race.

Richardson has experienced tremendous success since arriving at NYU from University College Cork in Ireland. Earlier this season, Richardson took first in the mile (5:07.88) at the NYU Division III Invitational and this past fall she earned All-America status with her 37th-place finish at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, in addition to leading the Violets at the NCAA Niagara Regional Championship and taking first at the Yellowjacket Invitational.

The men and women's track & field teams return to action when they begin their outdoor season at the Monmouth Outdoor Opener in West Long Branch, NJ, on Friday and Saturday, March 24-25.
