New York University's men and women's track & field teams wrapped up the first day of the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships hosted by Brandeis University in Waltham, MA, on Saturday, February 25.
The women's DMR took third place with a time of 12:15.49. The Violets held third place out of the gate with
Leah Haley running the 1,200-meter leg followed by
Aminata Johnson with the 400-meter leg.
Katherine Cheng and
Grace Richardson rounded out the race in the 800 and 1,600-meter legs, respectively.

Isre'al Conerly placed fifth in the 400-meter prelims and qualified for the championship section that will take place tomorrow. Conerly's success wasn't limited to the 400-meter dash as she also qualified for the championship section of the 200-meter dash with a seventh place preliminary-round finish at 35.93.
A number of Violets achieved new personal-bests, beginning with
Dasha Jackson in the first race of the day, the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 9.57.
On the men's side,
Matt Marcelo set a 60-meter personal best at 7.25, while freshman
Aleksander Jopek did the same in the 800-meter run (1:56.76).
After the first day, both the men and women's team sit in seventh place. The women totaled six points, while the men have three.
Day two of the championship meet starts at 10:00 am on Sunday, February 26, at Brandies. The Violets will compete in 400-meter, 200-meter, 1,600-meter, and 3,200-meter finals. In addition to the individual events, competitors from both the men and women's team will take the track in the 4x400 meter relay. Off the track, athletes will compete in the shot put, triple jump and high jump.
