Several Wrestlers Compete at Princeton Open

All-American Pontelandolfo Wins a Pair

Four members of the New York University wrestling team competed at the Princeton Open on Sunday, November 5, in Princeton, NJ.

After the rest of the team traveled to the Ned McGinley Invitational (and won it!) on Saturday, this Violet foursome participated at the non-team-scoring event on Sunday.

Two-time All-American Cooper Pontelandolfo was the headliner for NYU on Sunday. Competing in a new weight class, 157, the junior won two of his four matches, including a shutout major decision (11-0) over Zander Silva of Princeton.

Sophomore Evan Anderson, an NCAA Championship Qualifier last season, posted one victory in his three heavyweight matches.

At 165, returning senior Hassan Khan also posted one victory in his new weight class (he competed at 157 last year).

Also, making his NYU debut, was freshman Jacob Venezia at 133, who went 0-2.

The Violets return to action at the Racich Rumble on Saturday, November 11, in Collegeville, PA.
