The New York University wrestling team took sixth place at the Doug Parker Invitational hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, MA, on Saturday, November 18.
The
13th-ranked Violets compiled 87 points falling just 1.5 points short of fifth-place Delaware Valley (88.5) and leading seventh-place Pennsylvania College of Technology by six points.
Trent Furman at 184 was the Violets' sole individual winner. He recorded two falls and a regular decision (16-12) before claiming victory in his final match by medical forfeit.
Sophomore transfer
Vincenzo Napolitana went 4-1 to take second in the 149-pound weight class. Napolitano notched two falls, a technical fall (17-2) and a decision before being defeated in his final match by major decision (11-2).
Coming off a second-place finish at the Racich Rumble last weekend, sophomore
Evan Anderson (285) placed fourth in his weight class today, picking up two victories by fall before suffering defeat in the semi-finals.
Thomas Fischer (125) took sixth in his weight class with two victories (2-2), one being by fall.
The Violets return to the mat when they host the NYU Duals at the John A. Paulson Center on Saturday, December 2, at 10:00 am.
