Four Violets Receive All-UAA Men's Soccer Honors

Tahsildaroglu named Offensive Player of the Year

Junior Arkan Tahsildaroglu was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year to headline four New York University student-athletes honored in the league's year-end awards, announced this morning.

Tahsildaroglu and Alex Rovirosa-Illa landed on the All-UAA First Team, while Joe Leslie garnered Second Team honors and Nicholas Suter was an Honorable Mention.

During UAA play, Tahsildaroglu led the league in shots (28), points (12), assists (four) and tied for first in goals (four). Overall, the Istanbul native led the Association in assists (nine), points (25), shots (65) and tied for second in goals (eight).

He also finished second in the UAA in game-winning goals (five), delivering the go-ahead tally against league foes Carnegie Mellon (Oct. 1) and Emory (Oct. 14). In the Emory match, Tahsildaroglu added two assists along with his decisive score.

Rovirosa-Illa tied for second in the Association with seven assists, while his two assists in league play tied for fourth. The senior had two outings with multiple assists and finished fifth on the team in points (seven).

Leslie had a strong debut season with NYU after transferring from Division I UMass-Amherst, tying for second in the UAA with eight goals. His three goals against Association opponents ranked third in the league and he was one of two players in the UAA to score multiple goals against a league foe (two vs. WashU on Oct. 30).

Suter netted two goals during his senior campaign and provided steady leadership in the Violets' midfield, helping captain a defense that recorded nine shutouts on the year.

The UAA men's soccer awards are voted on by the league's eight head coaches. NYU concluded the 2022 campaign with a 2-1 loss to Williams College in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
