The
#8 men and
#6 women of New York University's Swimming & Diving Team traveled to Cambridge, MA to take on MIT and Williams College on Friday, January 21.
Williams' men came in ranked #11 and the Violets earned a 167-133 victory for their first win over the Ephs in program history. The #6 MIT men defeated NYU, however, 191-107.
On the women's side, #10 Williams defeated the Violets 179-119 and #9 MIT won 161-139, but the two sides were tied heading into the last individual event for a very close meet.
Men's Highlights
- Graham Chatoor (Glencoe, Trinidad/International School of Port Spain) starred for the Violets, winning both the 1650 freestyle (15:51.11) and 500 free (4:36.65).
- Benjamin Russell (Raleigh, NC/Raenscroft School) placed second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:54.18.
- Gavin Egerton (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) notched a second-place finish in the 400 IM (4:04.97), along with a fourth-place result in the 200 fly (1:54.48).
- Jacob Haines (Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) came in third in 200 breaststroke, completing the race in 2:05.89.
- Hunter Whitbeck (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxborough Regional) topped the leaderboard in the three-meter dive, finishing with 318.83 points.
Women's Highlights
- Issara Schmidt (Winona, MN/Winona Senior) controlled the boards all day, winning the one-meter (315.08) and three-meter (301.80) dives.
- Caitlin Marshall (Noblesville, IN/Noblesville) was victorious in the 200 fly (2:05.12) with teammate Isabella Brosvik (Brentwood, TN/Ravenwood) right behind her in second (2:06.95).
- Ashley Brodnick (Raleigh, NC/Leesville Road) posted a second-place finish in the 1650 free, clocking in at 17:48.20.
- Jessica Flynn (Charlotte, NC/Charlotte Latin School) also notched a top-two result, placing second in the 100 freestyle (53.33).
