Women's Team Sits in Fifth Place

OFFICIAL RESULTS

Members of the New York University men's and women's swimming team completed day three of the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday, March 22, at Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.

Junior Honore Collins was the highlight once again as she set the tone for the Violets with her third National Title in as many days in the first event of the evening, the 200-yard butterfly. Collins' time (2:00.40) also broke the NYU record, which she had set previously.

"Honore was unbelievable again," said Head Coach Trevor Miele. "She led the race from start to finish. It was very impressive. She's worked extremely hard all year and it's awesome to see it pay off."

The foursome of Collins, Rachel Reistroffer, Grace Wakabayashi, and Haley Wen placed sixth in the 800-yard freestyle relay and earned All-America honors with a time of 7:27.46.

May Li earned All-America honors with her seventh-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (56.08). In the preliminaries, she actually swam faster, setting a season-best time of 55.58. Terra Matsushima also recorded a time of 58.27 in the event's preliminaries.

Ashley Brodnick joined Collins in the 200-fly preliminary and finished with a time of 2:06.77.

The women's team remains in fifth place with 177 points with just one day of competition left.  Emory University is in the lead with 351 points.

For the men, Elan Oumarov earned All-America Honorable Mention with his 14th-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (1:49.50). His time in the preliminaries (1:48.84) was the fastest by an NYU swimmer this season.

Justin Lum swam in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 56.16.

"It was another fantastic night of racing," added Miele. "Everyone on the team has really stepped up and I am super proud of them."

The fourth and final day of competition begins Saturday, March 23, at 10:00 am.
